8-Ton Corn Harvest Festival in Jombang: Good News for the Local Agricultural Sector

Good news comes from Jombang, East Java, where the agricultural sector has once again demonstrated its potential. Farmers in this region have just celebrated a harvest festival of corn that reached an impressive yield of 8 tons per hectare. This harvest festival is certainly a breath of fresh air for the local economy and regional food security.

According to a statement from the Head of the Jombang Regency Agriculture Office, Mr. Agus Wijaya, S.P., the results of this harvest festival have significantly increased compared to the previous planting season. He expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the farmers who have worked hard and followed the guidance from field officers. “The success of this harvest festival is the result of synergy between farmers, the regional government, and other related parties,” he said during an interview at the harvest festival location in Mojotengah Village, Bareng Subdistrict, on Thursday, April 24, 2025.

Furthermore, Mr. Agus Wijaya explained that the increase in yields was influenced by several factors, including the use of superior seeds, the application of good planting patterns, and supportive weather conditions during the corn growth period. In addition, the active role of agricultural extension workers in providing technical guidance to farmers was also key to the success of this harvest festival.

The Head of the Bareng Sector Police, AKP Slamet Riyadi, S.H., who also attended the harvest thanksgiving event, expressed his appreciation for the contribution of the agricultural sector to the region’s economic stability. He also emphasized the importance of maintaining security and order during and after the harvest process. “We will continue to support positive activities like this that have a good impact on the community,” he asserted.

This corn harvest festival is expected to provide significant benefits for farmers in Jombang. With abundant yields, it is hoped that the selling price of corn at the farmer level can stabilize and provide a decent income. In addition, sufficient corn availability will also have a positive impact on the animal feed industry and other economic sectors related to this commodity.

The Jombang Regency Government is committed to continuing to support the development of the agricultural sector through various programs, including the provision of superior seeds, training for farmers, the development of agricultural infrastructure, and the facilitation of market access. It is hoped that the success of this corn harvest festival can be a motivation for other farmers to continue to improve the productivity and quality of agricultural products in Jombang.
